A message from Father Morley

Posted on 08/07/2013 by Bale Push Administrator

Every year when I put pen to paper to write something about the Bale Push (I don't use a computer) I ask myself 'What can I say that's different this year?' I always come up with the same answer. It's rather like preaching really - the message is always the same but the way the message is delivered can vary considerably.

The message of the Bale Push can be summed up under four headings.

  1. Togetherness - a sense of community, people joining together for a common purpose.
  2. Healthy Competition - people of all ages pushing a bale around the village trying to beat their previous times.
  3. Generosity - everyone has an opportunity to join in raising money for the charitable causes being supported this year, and every penny counts.
  4. Enjoyment - underlying the whole evening - an increasingly long evening because of numbers taking part in the Bale Push - is real enjoyment, a great sense of fun experienced by everybody.

I'm sure you don't need reminding that many charities are struggling to keep going this year, the incomes of all of us are being affected by the current financial situation. Each year this wonderful Bale Push event has raised increasing amounts of money for charities and I know this year will be no exception.

May Friday 13th September be a really lucky night, a great community night with records broken competitively and financially, and I will certainly pray for fine weather as I do every year.

Fr. Morley
