The final event in the Bale Push calendar is our Presentation Evening generously hosted as always by Sally and Andy Pickles at The Bowgie Inn. It is the time we celebrate the hard work of all those involved in this fundraising event and present cheques to our chosen charities and organisations.
Our very first Bale Push in 2000 raised £800 and this year we raised £7700 and over the years the total raised now amounts to somewhere in the region of £92,000 – all of which has been donated to local causes. Undoubtedly without the support of our numerous generous sponsors and advertisers we could never have imagined reaching such an enormous amount and we look forward to reaching the £100,000.
Cheques were presented to Cornwall Hospice Care £2000 [in memory of Father Morley Wills our very first Bale Stopper], the Motor Neurone Disease Association £1500 [in memory of Jim Dumpleton and Ian Inskip] and Help Izzy Walk £1500. A last minute decision was also made to support RNLI Lifeguard coverage on Crantock Beach over the October half term with a £200 donation. This was separate to £500 donations each to Crantock and Holywell Bay Surf Life Saving Clubs. Support donations were also given to various other worthwhile local causes, including Crantock Memory Cafe, Crantock Toddlers Group, Crantock Village Hall, Crantock and Cubert Parish Magazines and Newquay Town Band.
The Bale Push Committee would like to thank everyone who helped us with the event – there are too many to name individually, the residents of Crantock and Sally and Andy Pickles.
