Supporting Local Causes in 2012

Posted on 01/10/2012 by Bale Push Administrator in Charity Support General News

Crantock Bale Push is now in its thirteenth year and has gone from strength to strength and from the original idea the growth of the event has surpassed the expectations of its founder members and the money raised almost exceeds £60,000. This figure does not include the monies raised during the evening by the organisations that have their stalls on site or the monies raised by individual teams who have been sponsored to take part.

Much of our revenue is provided by the individuals and companies who sponsor their advertisements in our Bale Push Magazine. Besides providing an enjoyable evening for all concerned; the event does have serious intent and that is, of course to raise money to support others with our local and wider community.

Since 2000 we have supported more than 40 different organisations making donations ranging from £100 to over £3000. Our Committee receives nominations of suitable organisations to support and many hours are spent deliberating over which worthy causes to adopt. There are many criteria which are discussed at length! One of the stipulations for the organisations who receive our support is that the money they receive must be spent in Cornwall to support the people who live here.

For the 2012 Bale Push the Committee selected to support The Carly Taylor Trust, The Phoenix Stroke Appeal for Cornwall along with Crantock and Holywell Bay Surf Life Saving Clubs, Crantock and Cubert Parish Magazines, St Newlyn East Band, Crantock Village Hall, Crantock Parish Church and The Newquay Memory Club. Our Cheque Presentation Evening always takes place at the very hospitable Bowgie Inn at West Pentire and our Committee Members welcome representatives from the chosen organisations to join us for a bite to eat, a chat and to receive their cheques.

Our Committee is very aware that the success of the evening is due to the hard work and help of our friends and to the continued support of our sponsors – without whom there would be no Bale Push!!
